Just a small update on the New Alpha Demo.

  • All remaining unfinished 2D Animations (2 Action and Crouch) for the main character have been finished.
  • Some slightly improve the system on the camera system, it is unnoticeable for the player, but it makes setting up the camera for the future level and the full game more easy and such.
  • Doing a little test to scale down some graphic/performance settings for the game. Since the game is mostly 2D character sprites and stylized 3D worlds, it's probably unnecessary to have the game have stuff that can be a bit pushing on some people's PC rigs. There might be some noticeable graphics differences, but I'm seeing if the scale down is better for players.

So this is actually a big update to the Browser Demo, instead of being this tiny demo that is different from the Downloadable Demo, it is now 90% the Downloadable Demo in both layout, gameplay, and mechanics. I still had to make some heavy compromises to get this to work on a browser, such as the graphic downgrade and some mechanics and content are missing/changed, but overall this is mostly the downloadable demo.

Hopefully, by the end of the month or the beginning of the next month, I will have the new Pre-Alpha demo of Wrapturous Adventure ready for people to play. Just got a few things to finish up. Now just a heads up, while this new pre-alpha has been a months-long work, be aware that this was due to a large amount of reprogramming and polishing up, to help make the new pre-alpha feel more like a professional design compared to the original Pre-Alpha, that I personally have found to be very amateurish. So do not expect a ton of new content in the new Pre-Alpha, new capture and punishment scenes (In fact this pre-alpha will contain way less, but new ones could be added later), instead, you see this as a new starting step on some of the main mechanics that will help start creating Wrapturous Adventure.

Sorry that I haven't updated the Pre-Alpha build though I'm debating if I should have called it a Demo cause the build is just a tiny piece of what the entire game is gonna be.

Anyway, most of the current work on the game has been mostly in documents and concept art forms, so important stuff for the game, but not really stuff that players can witness or see much of. Also, gameplay-wise I'm experimenting on a possible grid base style movement for the game much like Frogger (I mean both characters HOP around the level), but not 100% on it and don't want to update the Pre-Alpha with that new form of movement, until I think it works for the game and people are fine with this style of movement, and the movement system is properly programmed in the game. Lastly, my birthday is coming up so will, of course, give myself a day or two off to celebrate and such.

Not sure when the next update will be on the Pre-Alpha, but currently my partner Tsinji is working on some character artwork of some of the characters that are planned to appear in the main game and hopefully in a few days will share them to everyone soon.

Which would you prefer regarding Wrapturous Adventure's punishment cutscenes?

1) Full animations on a 1-2 second loop, but only a few unique scenes.

2) No animations, but a significant number of unique scenes.

3) Motion comic animation, with a middling amount of unique scenes.

Check out my game Wrapturous Adventure

Currently updating my games Design Document, once it's all done I will get back to doing some updates to the Pre-Alpha. In case you don't know a Design Document is very important in a games development, its pretty much a set of notes and plans on what the game is gonna be like. I'm currently updating the document cause some aspects of the doc weren't filled in and some sections were not well put together. So want to rework it so I have a more clear document not only for me as I work on the game, but maybe to share with people to help show what I really plan with this game. Cause the Pre-Alpha doesn't represent what the final game is gonna be and I want to make it pretty clear for people. Anyway, when the Document is done I'll be getting back to working on the game itself.
